New at Spoonflower + Sprout Patterns & Roostery

I added lots of new patterns to my Spoonflower store recently and they’ve all been swatched and made available for sale. You’ll recognise them from my blog posts including fruit, donuts and lucky clover (and the Bunny & Panda fabric above will be available again as pencil cases soon!). As always, you can buy them printed on a huge range of fabrics as well as gift wrap rolls and even wallpaper.

I also realised I haven’t updated you on Spoonflower’s new sister businesses! Sprout Patterns is the most intriguing to me as they sell pre-printed dressmaking patterns in your choice of Spoonflower fabric. There’s a huge range of big name designer patterns to pick from with everything from bags to dresses and then you just choose your favourite fabric to use. It arrives all marked up for cutting with instructions on how to sew it together so no pattern tracing required.

The design tools are fairly easy to use, though it’s tricky to find fabric designs other than your own and the curated choices. If you need help finding one of mine, do let me know. I might try this out sometime for the fun of it (though I already have a pile of neglected dressmaking projects) as it’s more affordable than you might think. The tote bag above would cost just $18.50 and though dresses are nearer the $100 mark that’s still not crazy for a full custom fitted piece of clothing, even if you do have to sew it yourself.

Less innovative, but still cool, is Roostery, which makes Spoonflower fabrics available on readymade products for those of you who love fabric but hate sewing. Or, you know, are unable to upholster a chair yourself! It’s mostly homeware with things like pillows, napkins and tea towels and prices are quite high, but definitely fun for some inspiration if you don’t have the budget. There are a few issues with the fabric choices – my tea towel calendars are included but are either shown printed in the wrong direction or with half the design cut off but I’m sure it will improve in time.

As always, let me know if you try either of the new sites or make something with my fabric. I love seeing your photos!
