Fabric Wish List

I finally finished my first tunic top yesterday! It was actually super quick to sew up and it was only that it needed loads of adjustments to fit me that took up the time. I will get some photos and a full report together soon. Now that I’ve made one thing successfully, I have obviously started making a wish list of fabric I’d like to buy next. I’m kind of desperate to buy the lovely starry Nani Iro fabric above (Melody Sketch) but I think I need a bit more practice first.

I’m also fond of this polka dot Nani Iro (Pon Pocho). I love how the patterns are different at the edges on these – makes for interesting cutting choices.

The other large piece in my stash is an Echino design but her fabrics are quite heavy so I’m going to ponder this a bit first. Probably I will make a pinafore to wear over t-shirts. It’s still very tempting to pick up some of these Cockatiels though!

So, what did I actually buy? Michele Brummer Everett’s designs for Cloud9 are super cute but understated enough for clothing. These are my favourite four and all but the paper boats are on sale at M is for Make. I eventually went with Sea Critters – the aqua one with waves.

And finally, I could not resist these ghosts! Lizzy House designs great fabrics and this one is adorable. I think I can carry off a ghost dress. She has a whole astronomy themed collection coming out soon too.

What do you think? At £14 for the sea critters and £18 for the ghosts, it’s on a par with a half decent High Street dress and way nicer and more fun. Obviously, I also need to make something with my own fabric at some point but it’s pretty pricey with international shipping and I have no idea which one/s I would pick.
