My Art History: Moray College Paintings

I’m sharing some artwork from my school and college years. See all the posts here.

One of the best things about studying art at college was learning to paint. At high school, we only used poster paint, but at college I got to try out watercolour, gouache and acrylics. I remember doing a lot of watercolours – a medium I really enjoy – but the only ones that have survived are of dead fish for some reason. Nice.

I’m pretty sure this was my first attempt at painting out of doors and one of my earliest acrylic paintings. It’s pretty terrible.

And this must have been homework during a holiday break – a still life in my bedroom.

I did get a lot better at painting, but I’l save those for later as they were part of my final coursework.

Next week: experiments and self portraits!
