Part 2 of my weekend up north. My mum and dad both live in coastal villages so there are always lots of pretty photo opportunities. How lucky are these cows to have that view?
We drove down to Pennan one afternoon, which is one of many picturesque little villages on the coastal trails. It’s hidden at the bottom of very steep cliffs.
It has a tiny harbour, lots of quirky cottages and is famous for its red phone box as featured in Local Hero.
It was a bit rainy but still warm enough for a brief paddle!
I was hoping to see the infamous Raft Race in my hometown but sadly it was cancelled because of the strong winds. Instead we went to Dalgetie Castle near Turriff for lunch (and cake!).
The grounds are very wild and full of wildflowers and random outbuildings and statues – and tiny ponies! – so nice to wander around in. We also decided to pay to see inside which was really good. It was properly packed with family portraits and royal gifts and tons of books and random things, including a collection of dollhouses.
I wrote more about it on li.st: How to live life the Delgatie Castle way
You can see all my photos on Flickr. Pretty good break all round.
