Japan 2018 Recap: Day 1 & 2

I won’t have time to write about my Japan trip in detail until next year but I thought I’d share some quick day recaps again once a week while I upload all my photos to Flickr. You can also catch up on my whole trip in my saved Instagram story and Postcards From Japan posts on Patreon.

Day 1

We used a lot of different transport options on our first day: a plane from London Heathrow to Tokyo Haneda, a monorail to Hamamatsucho, a train to Shinagawa, a Shinkansen to Osaka and a subway to Yodoyabashi! We arrived very late so didn’t go further than the 7-11 across the street from the hotel. First purchase of the trip went to a cute little Suica penguin macaron that I ate on the Shinkansen.

Day 2

Day 2 had the cutest breakfast of my life, at Rilakkuma Sabo in Arashiyama! Arashiyama has changed quite a lot since I last visited and has quite a few cute shops and cafes including a Miffy bakery and an owl cafe. I filled in some gaps like the Togetsukyo Bridge and the weird local mascot and revisited some familiar views with Autumn colours. Once back in Osaka, we hit up Kiddyland for Halloween shopping, ate a mediocre meal at the Gudetama x Badtz Maru cafe and saw Osaka at night from up high on a ferris wheel.
