Unboxing My 100 Days of Kawaii Characters Surprise Box

Almost a year after I started my 100 Days of Kawaii Characters project, I can finally show you what was inside the surprise box I made afterwards!

100 Days of Kawaii Characters Surprise Box

With the previous boxes I drew on the outside but for these I decided to draw on the inside so I could send them without a plastic mailing bag, which worked really well. I just drew a happy face on each surrounded by coloured dots.

The box included 10 items, 7 of which were exclusive to the box. Let’s have a look.

A little full colour zine to celebrate the project with every character in order, plus a look at how a design goes from sketch to product. You can still buy this as a print book or PDF.

kawaii wooden pins

Wooden pin

Each box contained one of five popular food (and drink) characters from the project turned into mini wooden pins. I was a bit nervous about replacing enamel pins with these but they’ve already had to be restocked. All are currently in my shop.

Trapped Ghosts kawaii postcards

Trapped Ghosts postcards

Each box got a random 2 from a set of 4 high quality postcards featuring my Ghost trapped inside a terrarium, lava lamp, ship in a bottle and pickle jar! You can buy the full set in my shop.

Rainbow & Cloud fridge magnet

Rainbow & Cloud fridge magnet

Based on a sticker I drew on my suitcase on Day 46. There were a few extra so I got to put one on my fridge too. My patrons snapped up the rest.

kawaii gift wrap/craft paper

Double-sided gift wrap/craft paper

Featuring Eggs For Breakfast on one side and Liquorice Allsorts on the other side. Great for gift wrapping, origami or crafts.

kawaii Crepe folded notecard

Crepe folded notecard

I spent a lot of time thinking about how to have these printed but ended up printing them myself and cutting each one by hand. You can write a note inside and then fold it up like a Harajuku crepe. I made a printable download for my Patreon, which is still available on the $5 tier, or you can now buy it through Payhip or Etsy.

Kawaii Sticker sheet

Sticker sheet

I took a whole load of characters and had them printed into a Moo sticker book. That means each sheet should have a different set of 6 characters.

Kawaii Party Rings biscuits badges

Party Rings badge

These were one of the most popular characters in the project but they’re very British and I don’t want to get into a copyright thing with the biscuit company either. I made 3 badges for the boxes and I do have some extras – leave a note at checkout and you might get one free with your order.

100 Days of Kawaii Characters Surprise Box

+ Info Sheet

I always like to include a mini zine about the zine and products. This one was a bit of a fail as I wrote about some upcoming projects that were old news by the time half the boxes had sold.

Big thanks to everyone who bought one, but since this box took 6 months to sell out (instead of under a week like the previous two), I probably won’t do any more. Instead, I’m designing exclusive products for my Trouble Club on Patreon. Some will go in the Happy Mail packages and the rest will be available in my Patreon-only shop.
