Happy Lockdown Birthday

My birthday plans were pretty low-key this year – my sister was coming for a short visit so we could go out for afternoon tea and share the perfect gift of a new Animal Crossing game. However, the news threatened to change all that very fast!

Luckily, things worked out really well and I ended up having almost the same birthday. My sister escaped from London before lockdown so we could isolate together, Animal Crossing arrived on schedule and we made our own afternoon tea with homemade pastries, brownies by post (still shipping!), party ice cream KitKats, bunny marshmallows and yuzu green tea in my favourite teapot.

My family sent the perfect presents for lockdown too – going clockwise from top left there’s Easter candy (stroopwafel eggs from HEMA!), a mini bluetooth speaker, a bunny pin, local coffee, bunny hole punch, stickers, Sumikko Gurashi Re-ment miniatures, tea towels, Pusheen Cafe pin and socks.

Nicolette also gave me a handmade Angel Bunny bookmark! If you like this, we’re working on a simpler Easter Bunny tutorial for Super Cute Kawaii next week.

And what’s in those jars? Homemade brownie mix! I’m sure I will be very grateful for this if lockdown continues for a few more weeks. Usually I would have had a short phone call with my parents but instead we had a lot of fun using FaceTime for the first time.

I also bought myself a present – the Spring box from Creative Kawaii. It’s perfect with lots of bunnies, and the projects include hoop embroidery, sewing and resin. You also get everything you need so no worries about trying to find the right supplies. We did laugh that there were rubber gloves included for the resin – worth the price in itself! This box is sold out but I hear it will be restocked.

The only minor disappointment was that it was too soon for a proper birthday celebration in Animal Crossing – people wished me a happy birthday but no party. I did get a bunny t-shirt and find a tiny secret beach though! I’m starting to share screenshots on a new Twitter account if you want to see what I’m up to.
