Gocco Printed Brooches

Cakeify & Friends

Those of you who follow my Twitterings will have read about my random idea on Saturday that had me scuttling to the library for a photocopy and then to the gocco printer. I have been pondering the idea of felt Cakeifys for a while (as with the original Cakeify) but realised it would be too time consuming. And then I had the brainwave of gocco printing on to felt!

Gocco printing

As you can see, it works surprisingly well. My first print was too thick but a lighter touch got me good results. For the gocco printers – it took a good while to dry but then a quick iron protected by a dishtowel set the ink and all is well. I used fabric ink and normal paper screens.

Anyway, I have sewed them up and think they are super cute! Because of the size restrictions of the gocco, they are little brooches but who doesn’t want to wear a happy cake on their lapel? You can also get Bread Slice and Jammie Dodger. They’re padded inside for a little squashiness and have a hidden brooch pin on the back.

I’ve even packaged them up in little gift bags to keep them safe so they’re all ready to go. Only one of each in the shop just now but I will hopefully get a chance to make some more soon. Yay for random ideas.
