Pillowcase Dress #3

pillowcase top

I fear I am giving you a false impression of my life – one day designing shoes, the next doodling in my sketchbook and then whipping up some new clothes. In actuality, I made most of this pillowcase dress top about 8 months ago and only got around to finishing it yesterday. This one is made out of another of my charity shop vintage finds with a lovely lavender and pink flower pattern. I made it exactly the same way as the first two (tutorial here), except that when it came to the neckline, I used one of my favourite tops as a guide to make a squarer neckline. I really want to try an asymmetrical neckline but I’m too scared it will look unintentional. Maybe next time.

I made such an awesome job of the neckline that I didn’t want to fuss it up too much so I just added these three little pieces of crochet doily, another charity shop find (badly stained, hence the cutting up). I just stitched a pattern round the center of the smaller ones and then attached the bigger one with a cute little plastic button.

I’m really pleased with this one and can’t wait to wear it outside. It has now been ELEVEN MONTHS since I bought any items of clothing so it will be good to have something new to wear. Definitely need to make some more of these with my other pillowcases and also try one with some normal fabric. I may even attempt some bias binding!

Now, anyone got an easy skirt pattern that doesn’t need yards of fabric?
