The reason I was Up North last month was because it was my sister Nicolette’s birthday. On the day we had a family outing to Landmark Forest Adventure Park in Carrbridge near Aviemore. We used to go here quite often as kids but it has changed a lot in the last 20 years. It certainly wasn’t an adventure park then, more like some nice forest walks, a Clydesdale horse and a terrifying (not) maze. Nowadays it has a rollercoaster, a water slide and a lot of things for climbing and jumping. We went on the rollercoaster (twice) which was pretty good and some of us (not me, it looked wet) went on the water slide.
The treetop forest walk is still really nice and now has a hide for watching red squirrels and birds, and we also saw a bunny. We also got a lot of amusement and hilarious photo opportunities out of the Bamboozeleum, which was full of optical illusions and fun with mirrors, electricity, light, 3D etc. We especially liked the amazing shrinking chair!
It was definitely a fun day out and a pretty memorable birthday. We also had some amazing cupcakes from the Almost Famous Bakery in Forres, including red velvet, profiterole, brownie, Oreo and loads more.
I only took a few photos so check out Nicolette’s Flickr for much more hilarity, trees and squirrels.
