Felt Daffodil Brooch

Daffodils are my favourite flower and have been showing up in shops for a few weeks now even through spring is barely happening yet. I’m looking forward to seeing them pop up around town soon but in the meantime I made myself a daffodil brooch!

I used the instructions from Laura’s daffodil wreath, though with a few changes (as always – there’s a reason for the name Asking For Trouble). Since I only had a small piece of yellow felt, I used the narcissus templates and I also cut the trumpet down a bit so it wouldn’t stick out too much as a brooch. Otherwise, it was pretty simple to sew, though a little fiddly at the small size. I balked at sewing the trumpet to the petals and used fabric glue instead and also glued a brooch pin to the back.

It turned out pretty perfect and looks great on my Liberty print hoodie. I’m not sure I would make another one but it only took me half an hour on a quiet afternoon so give it a go!
