Thortful Advent Calendar Review

I buy an advent calendar every year. It’s mostly for the chocolate, but also because December goes past so quickly and it’s great to have a reminder of what the date is. When I saw Thortful were now offering my designs as Advent Cards, with an advent calendar inside, I had to order one and see what it’s like.

Thortful are a print-on-demand service in the UK. They started out just printing our designs on cards but now you can buy box cards that contain everything from socks to cake! My advent calendar arrived in a fun box that should fit through most peoples’ letter boxes.

The advent calendar itself is packaged inside a festive sleeve so the design doesn’t get scuffed up in the post.

I chose my happy gingerbread man as it’s cute and festive but not overwhelmingly so. The print quality is really good with accurate colours.

You can print your own message inside and they let you add loads of text in a variety of fonts. If you’re having it sent directly to the recipient, you can write a whole message. If you prefer to deliver them in person, you could just include a general message and add a note by hand.

Don’t worry! The other twelve days are on the reverse. The whole calendar is only A5 size and about an inch thick so it doesn’t take up a lot of room. I’m really impressed that they figured out a design and illustration that is generic enough not to clash with all the possible card designs on site and yet isn’t boring.

While I’m quite happy with a piece of Dairy Milk, this calendar is a little more fancy. Each piece of chocolate is 70% dark chocolate and wrapped in two festive designs, a tree and snowman.

I tried a bit from the back (since I’ll be away on Christmas Eve) and it’s really good stuff. I look forward to eating all the other pieces next month.
