asking for trouble

Recent Purchases & Gifts

Here’s a few things I’ve bought lately, and some gifts too.

I love my new bag from Cath Kidston so much! I’ve been using my fox handbag for 3 years now and it’s starting to wear out a bit so I wanted to take it out of daily use. This mustardy yellow bag was the only one I liked when I looked for a replacement so I had to wait a while until I could get a big enough discount. It’s a little bigger, which means I can fit things like my hat or Kindle or water bottle, and has lots of pockets!

I’m not sure what the front pocket is meant for (it has a side zip) but it’s great for pins as the locking backs aren’t inside the main bag where they might get caught on stuff. It was difficult picking some pins that I love but won’t be devastated to lose or damage but I think these work nicely together. The balloon is by Bel’s Art World and the sakura bunnies by Geeniejay + my Mt Fuji Hugs.

Sumikko Gurashi bread plush

There was no way I could resist the Sumikko Gurashi bakery theme and I was up early on launch day to grab something. Unfortunately not early enough as my favourite little baguette plush sold out while I was checking out. I swapped it for Shirokuma, who is almost as cute, plus a hand towel with the whole gang.

You might remember that I have pre-ordered loads of books for this autumn – and next spring. These two arrived recently – I already own Crooked Kingdom on ebook but this is such a lovely collector’s edition with gold foil, black page edges and new art. Pumpkinheads is a super cute and funny comic book set in a pumpkin patch and I need to reread it closer to Halloween. I’m pleased to report that it does include someone wearing a pumpkin on their head.

I bought this Hello Kitty bento origami set at Hyper Japan but it took me a little while to make it. It was a lot of fun and easier than I expected. I reviewed it on SCK if you want to know more. I kept a few bits but sent the rest to my patrons.

I also reviewed a Doki Doki Crate for SCK, which was kindly gifted. It had a cats theme and was really good. I don’t tend to keep many items from subscription boxes we review, but this is all high quality licensed stuff from Japan.

I may not make it to the Pusheen x ARTBOX Cafe in Brighton (sob!), but at least I have the souvenir pin. It’s open for another month or so if can get there. I’m very intrigued to see what the next character/theme will be. Here’s Nic’s post about her visit.

I’ve got a few more fun things coming soon including a San-X Halloween package from Rainbowholic Patreon and my Zelda Link’s Awakening limited edition set. I was really expecting that to be cancelled and not actually available but it seems to be arriving at the weekend! Otherwise, I am saving my money for our upcoming trip to Utrecht & Amsterdam so I can buy all the Dutch snacks and Miffy merch.
