You may have noticed I’ve been blogging less often/reliably this year. There’s no real reason for it – I’m just both busy and enjoying doing less online. Here’s a round-up of what I’ve not been blogging about.
Utrecht & Amsterdam
I’m just back from a few days in the Netherlands. We stayed at an Airbnb in Utrecht next to a canal and a windmill, took a day trip to Amsterdam, caught up with family I haven’t seen in forever, visited the Miffy museum with Natasja and spent a lot of time buying snacks in the supermarket. I’ll share more soon.
Iona Work Trip
I also had a mini trip back to Iona, to work with my friends at the Iona Craft Shop, which coincided with 3 perfect days of lovely weather. It’s such a beautiful place and while the journey there is very long, it’s quite relaxing with lots of pretty scenery.
Afternoon Tea in Glasgow
In between those, I popped into Glasgow to have afternoon tea at Mackintosh at the Willow with my dad and partner. While the food was great, the refurbishment very well done and the exhibition quite interesting, the best part was dressing up in the 1890s clothing! The womens clothes were universally unflattering while my dad looks great.
MCM Scotland Comic Con
I also spent a couple of hours rushing around MCM Scotland Comic Con in Glasgow (wearing my big fluffy Hello Kitty hat from Universal Studios Japan) before my Holland trip. It was so much better than last time and I bought a lot of comics and cute stuff. I wrote more at Super Cute Kawaii.
Drawing Ghosts
One thing that is keeping me busy is my Patreon. I’ve been drawing this ghost holding/hugging various things requested by my patrons – I have lots more I want to try so expect more throughout October. Above is a combination of 2 requests – a black cat and a plushie.
Link’s Awakening
I’m surprised I found the time to play this but I’m already at the second last dungeon. It helps that I have played the original (and colour version) so many times that I can do everything without thinking. I’m having such a good time and the new graphics are so cute but I’m finding some of the bosses much harder (I’m terrible at boss fights). Also very glad I bought the fancy collector’s edition as the art book and Gameboy case are so great.
Reading Challenge
All this traveling means I’m 2 books ahead of schedule in my reading challenge and have read so many good ones. These few weeks with Pumpkinheads & Wayward Son by Rainbow Rowell, The Secret Commonwealth by Philip Pullman and Ninth House by Leigh Bardugo is really too much awesome to deal with. You can read my reviews here.
Watching TV
I got Netflix back for Aggretsuko S2 (I LOVE HER) and Mindhunter S2 (still great, even though I have so little interest in serial killers that I don’t know who any of these people are. Also made me want to rewatch Fringe!). I’m currently bingeing Money Heist (loving the constant cliffhangers and silliness of it – like 24 but much more fun) and have been rewatching Dawson’s Creek (which is both better than I remember and pretty rubbish, though it seems I’ve only seen S1, 2 and a little bit of 4 before). Also great: Atlanta S2, Fleabag, Fosse/Verdon.
