Personal updates have been a thin on the ground here, thanks to a couple of illnesses, some visitors and my troublesome ancient boiler so here’s a bit of a catch up and a new free zine.
Etsy Made Local
Market time came up fast and my mum came down to help me out again. My stall looked pretty good though I didn’t really bring that much stuff because it was too much to think about. We had a good day even though it was SO COLD. People shopping kept telling us it was warmer outside. Huge thanks if you came by.
This was the view as we left Helensburgh – so pretty! – and then 10 minutes down the road we hit thick fog all the way to Glasgow.
Hill House
The next day we went up to Hill House to see the new box. It’s an original art deco house built by Charles Rennie Mackintosh with all the original furnishings. Unfortunately, he didn’t consider our very cold and damp climate so the house is disintegrating. They’ve built a protective box around it to help dry it out and decide what to do next. There are walkways all round so you get a very unique view of the building.
Inside they’d added lots of festive details as if the family were getting ready for Christmas and it’s such a beautiful house. I love all the shelves and little display nooks.
New Bookshelf
My dad also came to visit (and fix stuff in my house!) and I got a new bookshelf at IKEA for my bedroom. I haven’t really organised the books yet but I did bring through some cute things that I’d like to see more often.
I added some of Kaila’s washi tape to the edges. I do this with a lot of of my IKEA furniture as it’s the perfect size for washi and you can change it up easily. This was a Patreon exclusive design but you can buy more of her colourful washi tape at Rainbowholic.
New MacBook & London Zine
I got the rest of my book money so I bought a fancy new MacBook! My old one was really struggling so it’s been amazing, plus I can finally use InDesign again (for zines).
To celebrate, here is a free zine for you, by me, Soléna and Jacqui about our London meetup in July. It’s only little but has comics, drawings, photos and lists, including some bits about our hilariously weird Airbnb. Go and download it.
Lots more to share soon hopefully, including this year’s personal Christmas card design and all the lovely things I’ve been getting in the mail.
