A new batch of favourites to start the year with a wish list of things I want plus some interesting links from around the web and current entertainment.
Wish List
- This made to order bunny throw blanket by Vicki Xu at Throw & Co. is so beautiful
- More bunnies – and space! – in this Cosmic Rabbit Enamel Pin by Alum & Ink
- This GINGIE plush from Katnipp is adorable, especially the scarf.
- Noodoll really need to stop with all the cute new things – how sweet is Ricebao?
Links I Loved
- Studio Ghibli recently did some Q&As, sharing fun facts about Spirited Away and Porco Rosso. SoraNews24 have translated them for us and there’s lots of cool stuff in there.
- If you are also feeling torn over being a fan of new technology but crypto & N/F/Ts being clearly awful, this is an excellent article on the good, the bad and the ugly of crypto.
- And Conrad Keely takes one for the team and writes about the process of selling his art as an N/F/T experiment. It’s a fascinatingly horrible read.
- The only good thing about January is seeing everyone’s organising setups and Rainbowholic has shared her 2022 Journals + Work Planner.
- The best magazine covers of the year is worth a look, but mostly because it introduced me to Rubbish FAMzine, which looks completely bonkers in an incredible way – and also costs a fortune.
- I enjoyed this round-up of the worst things we bought in 2021 at Slate
- And A Grand Unified Theory of Buying Stuff by Paul Ford is just great. “Don’t buy stuff stuff!” is a real motto for the current times (both via TMN)
- They’re replacing the iconic bridge in my hometown and there’s a livestream of the new bridge being built, if you want to see just how beautiful Lossiemouth is (and that’s just one of our beaches!)
Into It!
I ‘completed’ Happy Home Paradise recently and now have a hospital and clothes shop, as well as an amazing beach party that has to be in my top 10 fun gaming moments of all time. I don’t even want to share images and spoil it for anyone still playing. Sasha was my second last home design and he’s so cute and loves space so I really want him on Neptune. I’m taking a break from HHP now as I’m enjoying being able to redesign my villagers’ homes on Neptune – some of them had the worst layouts and now they’re so much nicer. I will share some photos once I get them all at home.
I’m still playing a lot of Breath of the Wild in Master Mode too, and started updating my tumblr again. Master Mode is a bit like life in pandemic year 3 – everything is basically the same as normal but a bit more difficult and takes more effort. I’m enjoying myself though, especially using amiibo cards to get different armour and weapons for a change.
