My Year in Crafts

Here’s a look back at all my craft projects from 2022 and what I’m planning to make in 2023.

felt flower bouquet

My favourite project was definitely the Dahlias in Bloom Bouquet Kit by The Handmade Florist that I got for my birthday. I really enjoyed making it and the finished bouquet looks so lovely in my bedroom.

mushroom family cross stitch pattern by Gera!

A close second was the Mushroom Family Cross Stitch Sampler by Gera! This is the biggest and most complicated cross stitch pattern I’ve tried and it was fun to tackle something a bit more challenging. I had a great time and loved the end result.

kawaii cross stitch

Also in cross stitch, I stitched up these mini pixel Tea & Cake patterns I’d made for Animal Crossing with plans to design a whole load more. That didn’t quite happen but it’s still on the list!

Animal Crossing frosted cookies tutorial

Ever since I saw the frosted cookies item in Animal Crossing, I’ve wanted to make them in felt, but I’m still surprised that I actually did! I also made card versions with my Silhouette Cameo, which was getting a bit neglected. You can find out how to make both in my Animal Crossing Felt Frosted Cookies Tutorial.

Halloween decorations

I also had to make the even cuter Spooky Cookies for Halloween, though I was too busy to do any sewing. I loved having the garland on display though and kind of miss it now my Christmas decorations are packed away. Here’s the Animal Crossing Spooky Cookies Halloween Garland Tutorial

mini paintings

Last but not least, I bought some Posca paint pens and had so much fun painting mini canvases for gifts and my 15th anniversary. Hardly any of them sold though (they’re still in my shop!) so I guess that’s a draw.

2023 Craft Plans

My vague goals last year were to do more origami (I did make a few things as gifts but there are no photos!), work on my hoop art wall (not really) and make some DIY plants (I made a bouquet!), plus I was tempted to buy some acrylic paint pens, which I did!

snow bunny felt brooch

This year is already getting off to a crafty start as I got a Creative Kawaii box for Christmas and have finished 1 project and started another. I’ve also made my snow bunny in felt as an added bonus for the new year cards tutorial coming to Super Cute Kawaii on Monday. I feel like crafts will be a priority this year so here’s some plans:

  • Finish my Creative Kawaii box
  • Create at least 2 more tutorials for SCK
  • Buy some kits and patterns with my Etsy gift card, make them and write about them
  • Design more mini pixel patterns and stitch them up
  • Finish an embroidery kit or pattern, ideally in a hoop.
  • Make something in origami every month
  • Experiment with a new craft
  • Go through my box of craft stuff and try to finish something

I’m already quite excited to get started!
